Marine Sgt. Maj Dan Daly won the Medal of Honor twice in WWI but he's probably better known for his battle cry when his 5th Marines attacked the entrenched enemy at Belleau Wood on June 6, 1918.

"Come on, you sons of bitches! Do you want to live forever?" he shouted at his Marines as they went over the top into No Man's Land and a hail withering enemy fire.

I wish he were around today. We need someone like Dan Daly to urge slumbering Americans to wake up and go on the attack against the greatest threat to the survival of this nation we've ever faced.

Make no mistake about it, Barack Obama wasn't kidding when 5 days before taking office he vowed to transform America without specifying what kind of changes he was planning to make. We are now learning why he wasn't specific - admitting that the change he was planning was nothing less than the transformation of this Republic into a socialist state ruled by an all-powerful central government.

He's has already succeeded in imposing a system of socialized medicine on the nation with the passage of the so-called health care reform legislation and that's just the beginning. On the front burner is the Kerry-Lieberman cap & trade bill which if passed by the Congress would cripple the economy, drive millions of American jobs overseas and impose crippling costs upon the American people all in the name of preventing a non-existent climate change threat.

He is pushing big labor's pet project - eliminating one of democracy's key features - the secret ballot. According to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce if enacted the Employee Free Choice Act --better known as the Card Check bill-- would change how unions are allowed to organize workers in the United States. It would in effect junk the secret ballot.

The point here is that he's on a roll thanks to the control his leftist party wields over Capitol Hill, a control that looks like it's going to be wrested from their hands this coming November 2nd. But it's no means certain that the Republicans can take the Senate out of Obama’s party's hands even though it is absolutely essential that it be made to happen.

A lot of conservatives are counting the electoral chickens before they hatch and they could be bitterly disappointed if the voting goes sour and the Democrats either hold the House and Senate, or lose by the narrowest of margins, presenting the nation with what amounts to a deadlocked Congress where Obama will continue to get his way by corrupting the process much as he did in the Health care reform bill.

One thing is certain: Obama and his gang are going to use every sleazy tactic in their Marxist Saul Alinsky playbook - they are not going to take the threat of losing the Hill in November laying down. Conservatives must begin to deal with this eventuality now.

In the Congress Republicans will need steel in their spines and raging fire in their bellies if they are to achieve the massive victories their cause requires, In the meantime the floors of both Houses must become bloody arenas where total victory is the only acceptable outcome. The phantom lure of bipartisanship must be tossed into the legislative trash. The lines must be clearly drawn and defended with vigor. And all activity aiming at creating and implementing even the most harmless looking collectivist measures must be dropped dead in their tracks.

This is war and as we were told in WWII there is no substitute for victory. We need a Sgt. Dan Daly to urge us SOBs on. We don't want to live forever, but we want the United States of America to live forever as our Founding Fathers designed it to do and not as the central planners plot to impose on the American people. Semper Fi.
